    Cabinet agrees measures to improve water supply, sanitation services in Basra province


     

    The Cabinet held its weekly regular meeting in Baghdad on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi.

    The Cabinet reviewed water supply and sanitation services in Basra and other regions of Iraq with a view to provide quick, pragmatic solutions to water shortages and increased salinity.

    Thống kê xổ số Đồng NaiThe Cabinet approved the installation of several desalination stations in Basra, and ordered that technical and progress reports be submitted to the Prime Minister within a month.

    The Cabinet formally requested that local authorities in Basra submit within two weeks a comprehensive plan for the upgrade of the water grid in the province.

    The Cabinet ordered that Al-Hartha water project in Basra starts test operations within a month, before being officially opened no later than February 2019.

    The Cabinet instructed relevant local authorities, with the support of  law enforcement agencies, to continue to remove all illegal diversions and makeshift dams obstructing the flow of river water downstream to Basra.
